Review

Summary: Basically this movie is about Lord Blackwood being caught, received his death sentence, pronounced dead and reappears again. Sherlock Holmes comes into the picture by solving the mystery of the reappearance of Lord Blackwood whom he caught himself in the first place.



Review: You might think that the divorce of Guy Ritchie and Madonna would affect both parties emotionally but guess again. Madonna is dating this Brazilian model by the name of Jesus Luz and Guy Ritchie on the other hand directed a movie.

Apparently critics have commented that the movie Sherlock Holmes, directed by Guy Ritchie was so darn beautiful with all the mayhem in the movie translated into one elegant graphic, that it had truly exceeded their expectations. Maybe Ritchie was trying to pour his anguish over his estranged marriage by perfecting Sherlock Holmes so brilliantly because there was no one scene whereby he hasn’t edited repetitively.

Moving on, Sherlock Holmes which was originally the poignant invention of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. In the movie, Holmes was played by Robert Downey Jr. with his trustworthy partner, Watson played by Jude Law. The movie starts by introducing the arrestment of the serial killer and occult “sorcerer”, Lord Blackwood. He was sent to the gallows and confirmed dead. So, Holmes and Watson could finally close the case. However, Lord Blackwood mysteriously reappears from the grave only to resume his killing spree. Since there is no such thing as magic and voodoo, the reappearance of Lord Blackwood is simply illogical and thus Holmes has to begin the manhunt again.

The movie follows closely on how Holmes unravels and deciphers the clues of lies and deceit, black magic and mysteries. Along the way, he was seduced by a temptress named Irene Adler played by Rachel McAdams.

Sherlock Holmes was definitely a reinvention of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s invention of the famous iconic detective. Holmes was portrayed as a man who can’t look after himself, extremely neurotic but not from being high on drugs and a witty sense of humor that requires higher intellectual metacognitive skills to comprehend. Watsons (Jude Law) was always outshined by Holmes as he was only a sidekick but Irene (Rachel McAdams) somehow shared the spotlight with Robert Downey as the script constantly shows the both of them frequently. However, the character Irene never developed past the vague silhouette figure who was always right beside Holmes.

Nevertheless, this movie is definitely highly rated!
